Ice Storm 2007
It would seem that the worst is now, as temperatures moderate to a balmy 33 degrees. It started with a cold rain over the weekend, the progressively got colder and colder until the rain began to freeze as it accumulated on the ground, the roof, the trees, the rain gutters, the roads, the overpasses, the deck and anything else that was wet, up to a half-inch in some spots. Rain turned to sleet, then continued to refreeze. It deteriorated from there.
Roads, schools, businesses and most of the city has been shut down for the better part of two days. Last night power lines, sagging from the weight of the ice and heavy tree limbs provided sporadic power outages. Today, tree limbs started to pop, crack and fall from the weight. It’s a little claustrophobic being cooped up in the house for 3 days, but it’s also a lot of fun to see the kids excited about all the ice.
As all this ice melts and another good storm coming in from Mexico, the city is now concerned about flooding, and there’s a possibility of more freezing rain next week. So where’s Al Gore anyway?
Anyway, here are some of the ice storm photos. (just click the photo for the next one.)

Photo Gallery
Well, I think I finally solved my photo gallery issues. The photo gallery solutions thus far have been too limited, too constrictive or too bland. So…I’ve installed another version of Wordpress (what runs this site) in a subdomain of Atypical Nonsense, hacked up a photoblog theme and have given the photo section a blog of it’s own. Neato, eh? Yeah, I know…who cares. But since I’ve spent most of the day fiddling with the dang thing, I thought I’d clue you in to the greasy details.
Oh, yeah, check out the latest photos.
