More Inspirational Lyrics

This is a song by Trace Adkins, called ‘You’re Gonna Miss This” and isn’t it true…
We watch our children grow up and wish to be adults, while adults wish to be children. A strange dichotomy.

She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying “I can’t wait to turn 18″
She said “I’ll make my own money, and I’ll make my own rules”
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said “I was just like you”

You’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this

Before she knows it she’s a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her “It’s a nice place”
She says “It’ll do for now”
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says “Baby, just slow down”

Cause you’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this

Five years later there’s a plumber workin’ on the water heater
Dog’s barkin’, phone’s ringin’
One kid’s cryin’, one kid’s screamin’
And she keeps apologizin’
He says “They don’t bother me.
I’ve got 2 babies of my own.
One’s 36, one’s 23.
Huh, it’s hard to believe, but…

You’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this”

Inspirational Lyrics

I listen to a lot of music, but rarely does it inspire me or capture my core like this song from Jeremy Camp. This came out around 2004, but the quality lyrics just capture the emotion, pain and burden that Christ bore for us. An amazing set of lyrics from a young composer.

This Man

In only a moment truth was seen
Revealed this mystery
The crown that showed no dignity he wore
And the king was placed for all the world to show disgrace
But only beauty flowed from this place

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands

He held the weight of impurity
The Father would not see
The reasons had finally come to be to show
The depth of His grace flowed with every sin erased
He knew that this was why he came

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands

And we just don’t know
The blood and water flowed
And in it all He shows
Just how much He cares

And the veil was torn
So we could have this open door
And all these things have finally been complete

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands,
From his hands, from his hands, from his hands

Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands.

…And Then There Were Three

angel.pngEvery now and again, I find it is my duty as a Dad to simply cave into the will of my family. This opportunity recently presented itself on one, fine, glorious Sunday afternoon.

It was a sunny Sunday, at home alone with nothing much to do except lay around on the couch, watch “guy” movies on AMC or TNT and gear up for the coming week. It was post-football season, so there wasn’t much of importance to contend with except for an occasional trip to the ‘fridge for refreshments during commercial breaks.

So there I was, lazing around the day when a call comes in, “Go look at your cell phone”. A photo message. “I’m at Petsmart, you need to go look at your phone.”

Usually this is the part where I find that something is going to cost me money…and it did. And there she was, a face one could not resist and a tragic story to go with it and my heartstrings were fully yanked.

As if we didn’t have enough animals to take care of, house and feed, but somehow I found myself hooked, lined and sinkered into bringing home our little “Angel”. She was on the Humane’s Society “Death Row” (quite the oxymoron) just days away from being euthanized - a guilty burden I could not carry… so of course I said, “yes”.

I’d like to introduce the latest member of our growing family, “Angel”. She is a 6 month old Italian Greyhound Chihuahua mix - affectionately known as the breed, Italian Greywawa. She is a sweetheart, cuddlebug that no mortal man can refuse.

Unfortunately, during her ordeal at the pound she contracted distemper and the result is a never-ending “tick” that resembles Turret’s Syndrome minus the foul language. Of course, I don’t understand dog too well, so she could be cussing me out unbeknownst to me.

It was one of those situations where I couldn’t say “no” and if I did, I’d be the scourge of the earth. I love dogs and seemingly have an invisible flashing neon sign plastered across my forehead that says, “SUCKER”, unfortunately it’s something that is only blatantly visible to my kids and my wife.

Even with all the suckering, Angel has been a wonderful addition, she loves the kids, gets along with the other dogs and has fit in quite well…and at least for one day, according to Sara, I was…”The best Dad in the whole world”.
